Content
The Oxford Handbook of Clinical Haematology provides core and concise information on the entire spectrum of blood disorders affecting both adults and children. Updated for its fourth edition, it includes all major advances in the specialty, including malignant haematology, haemato-oncology, coagulation, transfusion medicine, and red cell disorders, with a brand new chapter on rare diseases. Practically focused, and specifically designed for ease-of-use, and rapid access to the information you need, this handbook is an indispensable resource on all aspects of haematology for all trainee doctors, nurses, technicians, and research professionals. The handbook is divided into clinical approach and disease-specific areas. The clinical approach section outlines various symptoms and signs in patients with blood disease to enable the reader to formulate a sensible differential diagnosis beofre embarking on investigation and treatment. The disease-specific section is written by four authors whose expertise covers the whole breadth of diseases included in the book. All authors have contributed to national guidelines (e.g.British Committee for Standards in Haematology, BCSH) and are experts in the evidence base that exists for each topic. The Oxford Handbook of Clinical Haematology offers a concise and logical approach to caring for patients with diseases of the blood.

About the author
After graduation summa cum laude from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, Dr de Vos has worked in Belgium and the Netherlands before moving to the United Kingdom in 2004. After completing his higher medical training in Haematology and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists he worked as a Haemato-Oncology consultant at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London, United Kingdom, before moving to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, UK. With a broad interest in all aspects of haematology he is truly 'malignant at heart'. A true clinician Dr de Vos spends almost all his time at the bedside talking to and treating his patients. As a keen teacher he is keen to inspire and pass on in all his junior doctors and students a small part of what inspired him as a student about the incredible world of haematology.
Reviews
Review from previous edition Doctors who are not specialists in haematology will find this an excellent summary of the main approaches to the diagnosis and management of the blood diseases commonly encountered in clinical practice. Aslib Book Guide

Book condition
An important factor of a second-hand book is the condition of the book. The buyer may not be surprised. Always mention damages or defects. We use a system with 3 stars:
The book is acceptable: you have used it to study and made notes and markings – but everything is still readable. The cover and pages are in good condition.
The book still looks good: there are a few notes in it and you marked it. There are hardly any signs of use on the cover and pages.
The book is (almost) new: you have not written or marked in it. There are no signs of use on the cover and pages.
